Alberta Helicopter Elopement

Heli Elopement in the Rocky mountains of Alberta

Jen and Justin both consider themselves quiet and reserved and wanted more of an experience for their elopement, which is why they settled on an Alberta helicopter elopement. They couldn’t imagine getting married the traditional way, it just wouldn’t have felt right for them, so instead we did an intentional day that fit their personalities and let them be themselves. A day they would remember for the rest of their lives!

We met up at Rockies Heli on a beautiful August day that was warm but still had some cloud cover to make the lighting just right. After doing a first look at the helipad, we hopped in the heli with our pilot Ralph and flew to our pre-planned location, a spot called Lake of the Falls. Pam Davidson met up with us to officiate and I was excited that all three of them has never experienced a helicopter ride before. Jen and Justin kept their ceremony lighthearted and sweet and then we went straight into couple portraits.

I loved that Jen had an amazing jean jacket embroidered with her new last name on it. Unique details like this always make eloping even more special! After 2 hours at the heli location, we finished off their session at a classic Alberta lake with it’s stunning bright blue water.

Rockies Heli

I always recommend Rockies Heli because, since they aren’t flying in a National or Provincial Park, they have multiple landing locations and have flexibility with flight times. It’s fun to be able to take off and chose a landing spot while flying over the mountains and valleys. Having multiple landing locations also means that we can easily adjust if needed due to weather conditions. If you want more inspiration for an Alberta Helicopter elopement, check out this post!

Their engagement story

On August 17th 2022, we decided to try a challenging hike (for us), Black Tusk in British Columbia. The hike took 6 hours and was 24 km long with 5250 ft elevation and had the most breath taking views at the top! Justin proposed on the top, then we cracked a beer and just enjoyed the views before we headed back down. It was worth not being able to walk properly for three days due to our legs being toast!
