Calgary Outdoor Wedding Photographer | Julia + Taylor Priddis Wedding

Julia + Taylor had probably my favourite outdoor wedding of all time this past year. It reminded me so much of my own, so naturally I was fairly biased and loved everything about it. You may remember these two from their engagement shoot that we did in the mountains? They celebrated their day at an amazing house (mansion?) and property in Priddis, just south of Calgary. I love an outdoor wedding where everything happens in one place, because then the timeline for the day is so much smoother and easier to figure out. Julia and Taylor chose to stick to tradition and forgo a first look, so I hung out with each of them separately before the ceremony.

Taylor and the boys got ready in the barn, and we had a fun time taking pictures in the classic cars that were around the property. The were an easy group to get along with and they certainly kept Taylor laughing the whole time. I absolutely love his smile – slightly goofy but really lets his emotion show through. After I was done photographing the boys, I headed over to the girls who were chilling and drinking champagne in the bathroom. I know it sounds odd, but wait till you see the pictures of the bathroom. It’s bigger and nicer than my bedroom! I took Julia out onto the balcony for some epic portraits and fortunately the smoke from the forest fires has dissipated a bit so we could see the amazing scenery.

Their ceremony overlooked the spectacular backdrop that the Priddis property backs on to, and the valley and hills were just visible through the smoke. I loved that I could walk around in a circle around the whole ceremony, and get every angle. I also ran up to the balcony to get a shot of the whole scene. It was a truly beautiful location to say their vows to each other.

After the ceremony, Julia, Taylor, and I roamed the property taking pictures as we went. The positive side of having some smoke in the air, was that it nicely filtered the light and made it flattering no matter what direction I was shooting. J+T were so natural and easy to work with. It was effortless getting beautiful and natural emotion out of them.

We joined the guests for an evening full of delicious burgers, hilarious speeches, and one heck of a party. This one will go down in my history books, so enjoy some of my favourites!
