Barbara and Luis have filled their lives with adventure and a deep connection to the outdoors, so their elopement in Banff National Park was a perfect reflection of who they are as a couple. Barbara and Luis, both mental health therapists, met during grad school in Orlando, Florida. While their professional paths brought them together, their shared love for travel and adventure truly is what made them fall in love together.

Choosing the Canadian Rockies

Barbara, originally from Germany, is a mountain girl at heart. Luis originally from Puerto Rico, is a self-proclaimed “water boy.” They had always dreamed of getting married in the Canadian Rockies, and some classic alpine lakes were the perfect locations to bring their vision to life. In fact, they already had a canvas photography panel of Moraine Lake hanging in their bedroom. It was very fitting for them to elope at Moraine Lake!

An afternoon with gorgeous alpine lakes

We started the day with a quiet and intimate first look at the stunning Peyto Lake. It was quiet and warm, and they were both glad to get the day started and settle the nerves! Next, we headed to Lake Louise, where a small group of close family and friends gathered for an intimate ceremony. They had a beautiful arch set up in front of the mountains. My favourite part was the donuts after ceremony! I always tell clients to have exactly what they love as a part of their day. Donuts are a love language to Barbara and Luis! To finish up, we made our way to Moraine Lake for sunset photos. By then, the sun was starting to set and the lake was getting quieter with all the tourists leaving on the last shuttles. These two had the most natural chemistry together, making it so easy to work with them. It was such a joy to capture their love!
