Moraine Lake Hiking Elopement

It was a magical morning for Cassandra + Jordan’s Moraine Lake hiking elopement. They contacted me saying that they really just want to have a fun day to enjoy each other and celebrate. And that is the beauty of eloping! They could have a small adventure together and have a day to just celebrate marrying their best friend and love they had for each other. We started hiking at sunrise to a trail that took us past Moraine Lake to a beautiful and calm meadow full of wildflowers. It was there that they had a private vow and ring exchange before sharing a first dance. We took some photos around the area before we headed back down to Moraine Lake where they read letters from loved ones. It was an amazing day, full of celebration and happiness.

And boy do they have a lot to celebrate. About a year before their elopement, Jordan was in a coma in the ICU and Cassie was told he may never walk again, or possibly even wake up. He was on a rooftop with a friend when he fell through a skylight falling over 20 feet down. He was rushed to the hospital with countless broken bones, a collapsed lung, and serious head trauma. Slowly but surely he beat every statistic and prediction that the doctors had for him. He woke up from his coma albeit with a traumatic brain injury, which he is still recovering from each day. He walked again. He slowly healed. And just a year after that, he hiked up Larch Valley to say his vows to Cassandra as they eloped. Just the two of them promising all the love they have for each other. It was private, romantic, and perfectly them. He continues to heal and hopefully with one last hip replacement he will be hiking to even higher heights soon. It was truly such an inspiring story to hear. Life is short and unpredictable folks – spend every day loving, living, and doing what matters to you.
